A friend of mine collects vintage watches and he keeps his collection in a small shop in the heart of the Jewish district in Budapest, the Kopaszi Dam. The shop sells mostly modern watches but also some vintage models such as 38mm Omegas, Jaeger and IWC. I visited the store recently and had a good chat with the middle-aged owner. He told me that he started collecting watches in the 1980s and has around 200 pieces today.

He explained to me that he likes the aesthetic of these old watches and finds them interesting. The shop is very well organized and you can find watches of almost all brands. In addition to the watches, there are many interesting books and magazines as well. The shop is open every day and the owner offers free pick up and delivery to his clients.
The shop’s owner is from Sweden and he lives in Hungary now for over 40 years. He is very passionate about his country and he loves to share his knowledge with others. I highly recommend visiting his shop if you are interested in vintage and collectors’ items.
